Ocean City Maryland is a great place to visit for anyone looking for a unique beach vacation. With its mild temperatures and coastal charm, it is perfect for sun worshippers, nature lovers, and those who enjoy exploring history.
History
The area of Ocean City which is now home to the popular beach town was originally occupied by Native American tribes, particularly the Assateague people. It wasn’t until 1875 that the area started to develop with land being purchased by Isaac Wilson and Joseph Boyer who began developing a resort along the coastline. Later on in 1889, The Atlantic Hotel was built and opened which further helped spur development in what would become Ocean City. In 1928, a bridge connecting the mainland to Ocean City was constructed which allowed more people from all over the country to visit this charming beach town.
