Kent County, Maryland is a wonderfully diverse and historic county located on the Eastern Shore of the state. It is bordered by Queen Anne’s County to the north, Cecil County to the east, Kent Island to the south, and Kent Narrows to the west. History buffs will find plenty of interesting sites in Kent County as it was home to some of the earliest settlers in Maryland. In 1631, Lord Baltimore issued a land grant that established Kent County, making it one of the oldest counties in America. The county seat is Chestertown which is known for its 18th-century architecture and charming shops and restaurants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The total population of Kent County according to 2019 estimates is 20,100 people with a median age of 44 years old. The majority of residents are white (81%) followed by African American (13%), Hispanic or Latino (2%), Asian (2%), and other races (3%). Although this area has seen growth from both domestic and international migrants during recent years, most residents are native-born Americans who have lived here for generations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the most beautiful features of Kent County is its geography which includes rolling hills, wooded forests, and marshlands along with numerous rivers and creeks like Thomas Creek, Turners Creek, and South Fork Island Creek. There are also many natural parks such as Pickering Creek Audubon Center where visitors can hike among wildlife or take part in educational programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The climate in Kent County is mild with temperatures ranging from a low of 22\u00b0F in January to a high of 89\u00b0F during summertime months. The region sees an average annual precipitation of just over 40 inches per year with snowfall topping out at around 10 inches annually.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There\u2019s plenty more to do in Kent County besides exploring nature’s beauty! History lovers can visit historical attractions like The Robinson House which was built by a freedman around 1870 or go on tours at The Geddes-Piper House Museum & Educational Center. Foodies will enjoy sampling local cuisine from seafood dishes like crab cakes or succulent steaks from one of many delicious local eateries throughout town! Residents can also take advantage of nearby services such as medical centers as well as shopping hubs since Chestertown offers everything from big box stores up through boutique shops including art galleries featuring local artists’ work<\/p>\n\n\n\n
