Ocean City Maryland is a great place to visit for anyone looking for a unique beach vacation. With its mild temperatures and coastal charm, it is perfect for sun worshippers, nature lovers, and those who enjoy exploring history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

History<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The area of Ocean City which is now home to the popular beach town was originally occupied by Native American tribes, particularly the Assateague people. It wasn\u2019t until 1875 that the area started to develop with land being purchased by Isaac Wilson and Joseph Boyer who began developing a resort along the coastline. Later on in 1889, The Atlantic Hotel was built and opened which further helped spur development in what would become Ocean City. In 1928, a bridge connecting the mainland to Ocean City was constructed which allowed more people from all over the country to visit this charming beach town.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For visitors today, there are countless attractions and things to do throughout Ocean City year-round. With three miles of sandy beaches, you can spend time swimming or exploring the ocean life at one of several piers including historic Jolly Roger Amusement Park\u2019s pier in downtown Ocean City. History buffs can check out places such as Assateague Lighthouse (built in 1867) or explore any of the city\u2019s museums like the Ocean City Life-Saving Station Museum which features some of the area\u2019s oldest artifacts and rescues stories from over 100 years ago!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If looking for an adrenaline rush while staying in town, head over to one of several Water Sports areas where you can rent Jet Skis or go parasailing right off of the beach! For shopping enthusiasts, there are numerous outlets located within steps from each other making it easy to find just what you need during your stay. Also while visiting be sure get a taste of traditional Maryland seafood dishes such as crab cakes or steamed blue crabs – both local favorites!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At night time there are plenty of activities as well – live music venues offer up entertainment for all ages (from karaoke bars to jazz clubs), movie theaters show current releases, and even mini golf courses if you want some friendly competition amongst family or friends!
